Dimethylsiloxane cyclic mixture abbreviated as DMC silicone intermediate is a colorless transparent or milky white cyclic oily liquid.
DMC is a flammable, odorless, insoluble in water, soluble in benzene and other organic solvents. It can be polymerized into silicone polymers under acid and alkali catalysis, and is used for the production of silicone oil, silicone rubber, etc. It can also be used as a methylation reagent. Compared with other methylation reagents such as iodomethane and dimethyl sulfate, dimethyl carbonate is less toxic and biodegradable.
